Well it's been a while since I've last posted (so much for trying to record once a month). I've actually been sitting on this recording for quite a while, but haven't had the chance to actually post it. I've been practicing a few songs almost every day in preparation for playing live (hopefully starting with an open mic). It makes a huge difference just playing a song consistently (once a day). Most of the songs that I've been practicing are already on this site. This song is the only one that isn't, so I recorded it to post here.
This song ("Wolves") has always intrigued me - what is it actually about? It's the start of more cryptic and metaphorical song writing by Josh Ritter and thus, is quite an important song in his canon as a result. Since I've been practicing this so much, it was recorded in just one take all the way from start to finish. There are parts where it's not perfect, but overall I'm satisfied.
Production notes: recorded using MXL960 tube mic through Mackie pre (insert, bypassing EQ).
