Here's another Townes Van Zandt song. I was inspired to learn this when I heard Blitzen Trapper cover this at a recent show. Although I wasn't surprised, it was definitely disappointing to hear no response from the crowd when the lead singer of the band announced "this is a Townes Van Zandt song" and then launched into a solo rendition of "No Place to Fall". How can you tell you're no longer in Texas, eh?
Anyway, not much more to say about this, except like many of his songs it's beautifully written with a definite dark undertone. Brilliant stuff!
Production notes: recorded using a Larrivee L-03 and MXL 960 tube mic through Maudio DMP3 preamp. Heavy EQ to make it sound "vintage" and multiple compressors to level the vocal with the guitar. Slight reverb added at the end of the effects chain.
