Well I certainly have posted lately. It's been a hectic year so far and I can't believe how long it's been since I've had a moment to record anything new. There's certainly enough in the queue; it has just been challenging to find a uninterrupted chunk of time to warm up the voice and mic.
There's nothing like an opportunity to play to motivate. After being asked to play at a wedding anniversary for one of my relatives (50 years!), I realized I don't actually know any love songs. I've always wanted to learn "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" by Van Morrison (pictured above). It's rare that I'm able to find a song, work out the main parts and record it within a few hours. This turned out to be one of those rare moments as everything just clicked (take 2 - no edits at all). I was originally just recording a demo to see what it sounded like for live performance.
Production Notes: Recorded on MXL960 through Maudio DMP3 preamp. New tube installed in MXL960 (GE 12AY7) seems to produce a smoother sound. Guitar used was a Larrivée L-03. Stacked compressors to even out volume of vocals and guitar. Small amount of reverb added.
