Somehow I don't think this is what Norman Blake was thinking of when he wrote the song "Church Street Blues" (those of you who know Toronto will get the joke). I actually first tried to play the Norman Blake version, but gave up as I couldn't keep up with the bluegrass style pickin'. Somehow, I stumbled upon this version by Tony Rice which made it easier to figure out the chords. From there I 'converted' it from bluegrass to more of a folk finger picking style.
Country is the 'in' style these days (i.e. the new Decemberists album)... but I've been listening to this type of music for years. This particular take was recorded a couple years ago in 2008.
